Memorial Day Weekend (part 2)

As always, Burlington had their Memorial Day parade. We were a bit unsure of the day seeing that thunderstorms were in the forecast. With a few sprinkles and a rumble here and there, we didn't melt and enjoyed the parade and the loads of chocolate that was dumped by us. I wanted to post more pictures but they were blurry, oh well. My sister and her kids came along, so here in the group picture they were being knuckleheads by putting bags on their heads. The bags were passed out to the kids for them to put their candy nice of Paul!!
After the parade, we had a cookout!! I love cooking out :)

Memorial Day Weekend (part 1)

Our Memorial Day weekend started out on Friday night with a celebration of fireworks!! We walked to the park with my sister and friends. As always, Burlington did a splendid job!! :)
The next morning, Jason had gone fishing and had gotten crappies, blue gill, and sun fish. We fried them up the next day. Later that evening, Jason and I decided to take the kids to the Wilmot speedway to watch the sprint car races. That was soo much fun and the kids were excited to watch. We'd have the kids pick the car they'd thought would win. I think Jason and I jinxed every car we picked, cuz ours were the ones that always crashed!! Anyways it was a long fun night and we didn't get home til 12:30 am. Fun memories!! :)

Empty My Hands

Empty My Hands ~Tenth Avenue North

I've got voices in my head
And they are so strong
And I'm getting sick of this
Oh Lord, how long
Will I be haunted
By the fear that I believe
My hands like locks on cages
Of dreams I can't set free

But if I let these dreams die
If I lay down all my wounded pride
If I let these dreams die
Will I find that letting go lets me come alive

These voices speak instead
And what's right is wrong
And I'm giving into them
Please Lord, how long
Will I be held captive
By the lies that I believe
My heart's in constant chaos
And it keeps me so deceived

But if I let these dreams die
If I could just lay down my dark desire
If I let these dreams die
Will I find You brought me back to life

My mind is like a building burning down
I need Your grace to keep me, keep me from the ground
And my heart is just a prisoner of war
A slave to what it wants and to what I'm fighting for

I need to let go and empty my hands and let Him fill up my heart and mind. I can't do this alone, I have to surrender daily to Him. Help me, Lord!!

Coffee Overload!!

Goodness!! is all I have to say!! Yesterday, I had a coffee overload!! Last night, I had gotten together with 4 of my friends from church. So that morning, to get my day started, I had a cup of instant cappuccino...mmmmm. Then, I had gone to a friends house and didn't know that my friend's friend was bringing coffee from Starbucks for us all to try!! Then the night ended with spending time with more friends at Caibou in Lake Geneva. Oh my!! I had a Mint Condition blend!!!! Oh sooooooo good!!! That was the best iced coffee ever!!
Needless to say, I was up til 1am!! Well, that's better than 4am!!! That's a whole another coffee story... :)

Swimming Party!!

Yesterday we had the fun opportunity to go to a friends house to go swimming. This friend of mine, we met at Walmart a few summers ago. Now, I am not really an outgoing person, one to go out of my way to talk to a stranger...I can be a little shy...I know, hard to believe!! Anyways, I felt compelled to talk to her and found out that she has 5 kids, is a christian, and homeschools!! I feel that God's hand was in it all!!
Anyways, we went to their house for the first time yesterday to go swimming. She had invited two of her other friends who homeschool as well. So there was a grand total of 15 kids!! The kids had a blast!! It was nice meeting new people and realizing how much in common we all have with each other. The kids not only went swimming, but saw baby chickens, ducks, and goats. We moms talked laughed and drank coffee :) Not JUST of the moms works at Starbucks and she is required to taste all the coffee over a period of time and then mark it down in a book to write what she thought of the taste. Anyways, she brought Guatemala coffee, it has another name after Guatemala but I can't remember it. But my friend only had goats milk and not a whole lot of it was a bit strong tasting, but it was ok :) This lady made it in a French Espresso....oooooooo.... :)
Again, it was a fun afternoon and I am looking forward to doing it again!

Psalms 71:1-5
''In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth.''

Dinner For Two

Yesterday was a busy, but yet fun and exciting day. I tried to do school with the kids in the morning, but didn't get much accomplished. I was planning a surprise dinner for Jason. For those who know me and my life story...this dinner was special and important. Anyways, so as soon as lunch was over, we were off to the store for veal. I have never made veal, but I knew that when Jason and I have gone to Olive Garden, that's what he always orders, so I thought I'd give it a try. So I got veal to make veal parmesan to place on top of spaghetti sauce and noodles. Then I picked up italian bread to make in the oven, ceasar salad, fresh parmesan, and some other stuff here and there. For dessert, I made the other day this chocolate eclair topped with strawberries dessert...he loves that dessert!
So we get home and I begin to prepare. The kids were to clean their room and were foretold that they will be eating their supper in their room cuz mom and dad were going to have a special dinner. So I cleaned the living room, set up the card table, put on a table cloth, placed a candle in the center (the candle stick was still from our wedding, 13 years ago, but I have 3 boxes of new candles still from the wedding). It was fun watching the kids and them getting excited about this special dinner. I made a place in their room where they could eat their supper (mac n' cheese), I made popcorn, gave them snacks and drinks and they picked out movies to watch. So I begin to prepare the veal...shouldn't be hard, right? Well, I had to bread it then redip it in the egg mixture and then brown both sides...the first two were a flop...the breading all came off while trying to flip them. But thankfully the other 4 turned out. Then I topped it with a slice of mozzarella cheese and baked until the cheese melted...I couldn't wait! Salad, fresh bread, and fresh parmesan cheese on the table...everything was ready! I was anxious for him to come home!
Finally, I see him pull into the driveway. So I lit the candle...I prepared up the plates ahead of time and had them waiting in the oven. I rushed the kids back into their room, just as he was walking in the door :) It was a hit!! I gave him a hug and went to walk away, but he pulled me I knew it was a hit...I was so thankful. We had a nice dinner, accompanied by little peeking eyes. He loved the veal and said it was better than Olive Garden...of course, I had to make sure he wasn't just saying! It was a nice relaxing dinner :) We then let the kids come out so they could have the yummy dessert with us.
Later, as I was doing dishes and Jason was helping, he said, ''I decided that I don't want you to make me anymore special dinners.'' I was like, ''why?'' He said, ''Cuz then I won't feel like I should help with the dishes'' What a brat! :)
I was thankful for last night and how it all turned out :)

Friday night date night!! :)

Friday, Jason and I had the opportunity to finally go out!! My sister, Molly, was gracious enough to take all four over night for us. Even though they didn't go to her house til late in the evening, it still turned out perfect. Jason and I decided to go bowling in the Grove. They had all you can bowl from 9:30pm til midnight for $10 a person. So we got there by 10pm. First off, we both haven't bowled in YEARS!!! So needless to say, it was quite a sight and it was a low scoring game, but we had sooo much fun and it was fun laughing :) Now, I am slightly...uhhh....competitive! So I wasn't about to lose! We played 5 rounds or whatever you call it, and Jason won twice and do the math...ahhh, yes, I BEAT him!! And I had the highest score, which I will refrain from mentioning seeing that we both stunk!! hahahahaha, but I WON, that's all that matters!!! hehehe!!
We came home, after a McDonalds icecream run...and it was funny to watch the dog. Jason walked Hunter outside and the dog wouldn't stop staring at the car...we think he was ''looking'' for the kids. Jason finally opened the car door to show him that the kids were not there :(
The next morning was.....quiiiiiieeeeet!! :) It was a weird quiet...mother's out there you know what I mean. Even though the kids weren't coming home til 3, I still felt unmotivated to clean my house. So instead, I went grocery shopping ad then helped Jason work on the van today.
It was nice to see the kids. I was missing them...but the little break was very nice and we enjoyed every moment of it :)
Well, I better get off...I am making chocolate chip cookies and need to finish up....smells soooo yummy!!

Mother's Day outting

Well, if I figured out how to post pictures from my phone sooner, I would have taken more pictures...oh well.
Mother's Day was such a beautiful day!! We took the kids to the Fox River Park in Silverlake again. We played games and cooked out for lunch and supper. We went for a walk and came across two different areas to where we could make a fire. So we stayed at one and made a day out of it. In these few pictures, the kids wanted to climb up into the window at the little place we cooked out at. We didn't cook our food in the fire, we brought a portable grill. Anyways, it was just a fun day. I am so outta shape that I was sore the next day from playing wiffle ball and tossin' around the football. It was funny that night as I laid in bed. Ya know how ya get when you are just starting to drift off to sleep and you suddenly jolt cuz ya thought you were falling (well, if you don't, I do). Anyways, I was in that drifting off to sleep stage when I jolted, I dreamt that I swung the bat and missed the ball....that was my story of the day...lots of strikes! :)

Whoo Hooo!!! I figured out how to post pics from my phone!

This is a picture of our kids and my husbands brother's kids when we were in Arkansas :)

Money for cutting grass

For the past three summers, I have been helping out my aunt by cutting her grass. She is actually helping us :) It's been either used for some groceries or gas in the car or whatever little thing that is needed.
Well, this year I have plans :) Jason's birthday is coming up at the end of this month, so I have three weeks to save up. Now, he is terrible and always buys himself something in advance and says that it will be his birthday present and Christmas which means, he bought something that was a little bit out of our means of Anyways, I am still surprising him by saving up my lawn money so I can take him out for dinner or something :)
After that, next, I'll be saving up for a kiddy pool. I know that the two older boys will be too big, but at least it will give them something to cool off in during the that will take two cuts to save up for. Next, sand for the sand box. I haven't gotten new sand in years and last fall I emptied it cuz it was nasty and smelly. So again, two cuts. And then lastly, the new cd by Tenth Avenue North. I will save up for that, only if I don't need gas, groceries, or other things that the kids truly need. I am quickly reminded that it's not ''all about me'' :)
I better get off...I just finished cleaning up the bathroom cuz the dumb toilet overflowed from Jacob....ugh...also, the treadmill is calling me :\

Healing Begins

This is a new song from Tenth Avenue North. I don't have the cd, but hopefully I will someday :)
I heard this song and liked it a lot. Healing truly begins when we give everything to God. I've held on to things and felt I couldn't fully be used by God if I didn't give Him everything. Not just part of me, but all of me. I have to give all myself to Him daily.

Healing Begins ~Tenth Avenue North

So you thought you had to keep this up
All the work that you do
So we think that you're good
And you can't believe it's not enough
All the walls you built up
Are just glass on the outside

So let 'em fall down
There's freedom waiting in the sound
When you let your walls fall down to the ground
We're here now

This is where the healing begins, oh
This is where the healing starts
When you come to where you're broken within
The light meets the dark
The light meets the dark

Afraid to let your secrets out
Everything that you hide
Can come crashing through the door now
But too scared to face all you fear
So you hide but you find
That the shame won't disappear

So let 'em fall down
There's freedom waiting in the sound
When you let your walls fall down to the ground
We're here now

This is where the healing begins, oh
This is where the healing starts
When you come to where you're broken within
The light meets the dark
The light meets the dark

Sparks will fly as grace collides
With the dark inside of us
So please don't fight
This coming light
Let the blood come over us
His blood can cover us

This is where healing begins, oh
This is where healing starts
Whe you come to where you're broken within
The light meets the dark
The light meets the dark

Give Us Clean Hands

Give Us Clean Hands

We bow our hearts, we bend our knees
Oh spirit come make us humble
We turn our eyes from evil things
Oh Lord we cast down our idols

Give us clean hands
Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another

God let us be a generation that seeks
Seeks Your face, O, God of Jacob

Family fun day!!

Sunday we decided to do something together as a family. First, Jason treated us all out for a late breakfast. Then, we spent the rest of the day at Fox River park in Silverlake playing games and had a cookout. We had picked up two games at Walmart, Washer Toss and Bocce Ball. We also brought along Ladder Golf, a football, and a frisbee. Washer Toss was the first game...what a game, harder than we thought, but it was really fun! We were on teams, Jason, Jesse, and Jessica against Joshua, Jacob, and I. Of course we had a closer spot marked up for the younger two. Jacob made 3 points right away by getting the washer in the middle...definately luck, cuz he never did that again :) My team won, we only went up to 15 pts rather than the 21 pts because it turned out to be a long game but fun. We then played Bocce Ball. We didn't really follow the rules as much and the game went much faster and we all had fun. Jason and I realized how much our kids are not very coordinated once we started tossing around the football :\ Yeah, we need to practice more...
Then we drove around to a playground area that was in the park and gave out many merry-go rides and pushes on the swings. There really wasn't much to play on, but the kids didn't care. Then we drove to the otherside of the park to another playground. This one had more stuff and the kids had fun again :) We then went back to grill up our hamburgers and hotdogs and the kids played frisbee while they waited for supper to be done. After supper we played another game of Washer Toss and a game of football.
While at the park we realized that the game frisbee golf was a big attraction for many people. There were many people who came to play throughout the day. I have no clue how to play but it looks interesting.
It was a beautiful day! Such a perfect way to start out the week! We all really enjoyed the day. Jason and I realized that we need to do more family days :)
