4 Years Old!!!

My baby turned 4 years old!! Where has the time gone?? **sniff** I wish they could stay little forever!! But I know that's not possible... :(
Last week I asked Jacob for his birthday supper and cake request...hamburgers and dirt cake!! I think dirt cake is the new favorite cake for birthdays seeing that it's the third one I made in two months!!
Last week he received birthday money from his grandpa and grandma, so Monday we decided to let him pick out his toy or whichever he wanted. Well, in my blog from yesterday you know about the cell phone incident...so, we were at Best Buy looking to see if Jason could get a new one, only to find out that he had to wait til May!! Anyhoo, while we were there, we asked Jacob if he wanted to look at Wii games to see if he could find one he'd like. He found Indiana Jones II!! :) He was super excited seeing that it was going to be just HIS and only HIS first Wii game that he could call his very own!! Even though we have several games at home, this was just his and he could give or not give permission to his siblings whether or not they could play HIS game or not!!!
Yesterday morning we decided to wake him up before Jason went to work so he could open his present :) Shark Hotwheels set with a couple water changing color cars!! Sleepy as he was, he was excited for his present!! Despite the excitement, he was already asking to play on the Wii to play more of his new game. Later, the boys started playing his game and he came to me and said, ''mom, the boys didn't ask to play my game'' so I said to the boys, ''boys, you don't like it when Jacob plays your games without asking, you need to ask Jacob before you play'', ''Jacob, can we play your game?'' ''Sure!'' ...what a goof!! Has to be like the big kids...
The day consisted of cleaning, going to the dump, and going to the library. As we got in the car, Jacob says, ''Mom, it's my birthday, you said I can sit in a new seat!'' ''Oh, that's right!'' he was soooooo thrilled to finally be out of his old car seat to a booster seat! Such a big boy now... :)
At supper, he was excited to tell daddy about sitting in a new seat. He proceeded in asking me, ''Can I stay up until 10 o'clock now?'' ''um, no'' ''Whyyyyy?? I'm four years old now!!'' When Jesse turned 10 we let him stay up until 9 instead of 8 like everyone else :)
Later was dirt cake and full little bellies :)
Jason made sure he got his birthday tickles before he went to bed!
Still can't believe my baby is 4!!!

Overview of the month

December...where have you gone? It seems like yesterday we were setting up the Christmas tree, decorating the house, listening to Christmas music, baking cookies, and anticipating the morning of Christmas as you hear the sounds of cheer and laughter as the kids open their gifts. Now it's over...well, Christmas is over but not the meaning. The true meaning lives daily in our hearts.
It's been a busy month as usual. School for the kids, mainly and ice fishing! :) For the last few years, we've seen the need for a bigger ice shanty that would fit us all instead of cramming into a two person shack. We couldn't figure out what was worse...catching no fish for the third time, or the stress of the crowdedness in the shack. Hmmm...both!! Oh, then to top it, the gas powered ice auger no longer cut the ice, so we had to use the hand one...that was nooooo fun!! So, this Christmas, we decided to get a family gift...a new ice shanty...and of course new blades for the auger!!! The kids were excited when we had gotten it, but that soon faded Christmas Eve as Jason took us on a 10 mile hike across the Mississippi River to find that ''perfect'' spot that the map said would be ''awesomeness'' fishing!!! Hear the sarcasm?? Jesse and Joshua took turns pulling the new ice shack on a sled and pulling another sled with chairs and koolaid. Jessica pulled the food and chairs. And Jason and I pulled the old ice shack that had everything else we needed on it. We finally arrive to our destination!! And 20 holes and 8 hours later...nothing...no fish!! Then to haul it all back, the kids were not looking forward to going again the day after Christmas! :)
Christmas morning the kids were excited to open up presents! We first read the Christmas story from Luke then they opened up presents. It was fun watching their faces filled with excitement as they were excited to get the gifts they wanted :) It was a fun day. That evening, we had our turkey dinner...which of course is always delicious :)
The next day we went ice fishing again, determined that this next new spot we were gonna catch fish!! Again, Jason took us on a heart pounding hike on the Mississippi River to find that ''perfect'' spot that the map told us were there would be ''awesomeness'' fishing...jeepers!! We were hopeful as the tip ups were going up as we were still setting up, but no fish and one close one as we were robbed a minnow by some fish. As the day went on, I was dozing off while jigging in the nice heated ice shack, when I heard Jason say, ''Jenny! That was my phone!!'' yep, Jason dropped his Blackberry in the fishing hole....goodness! He only had that phone for 6 months! It was gut wrenching...and even more so as we could see it on the fish camera. After the initial shock, I finally said to the kids, ''maybe I should call dad's phone and tell the fish to bite the bait and then tell them no texting or going on the internet from dad's phone!!'' :)
FLAG!!! We run out of the shanty and Jason realizes that it's actually a fish this time! He pulls out a 31 inch Northern!! Excited as we were, it still didn't make up for the lost phone...lol! Jig pole!! Jessica caught a little Crappe and the line of two other jig poles which turned into a tangled up mess!! The evening was closing in...FLAG!!! We ran out again, this time Jason had me bring it in...oh my goodness, it was heavy feeling...I was super excited as the adrenaline was pumpin!!! Another 31 inch Northern!!! :) There IS fish in the Mississippi!! Ha! The kids were excited but were once again dreading the hike back to the car as we started packing up. Maybe next year we'll invest in a four wheeler again....wishing we never sold our other one :(
Can't wait to have our fish dinner :)
One more week of no school as we prepare to bring in the New Year!!
Today we are celebrating Jacob's 4 birthday! That will be a whole nother blog :)
Looking forward to what next year will bring....

Hunter, Oh Hunter!!

Don't be fooled by his look of innocence!! He has TROUBLE written ALL over his face...along with some gray. It's beyond me that he is still alive. I mean, come on...after ALL the stuff he has eaten over the years?? I'm surprised he's still alive!! Buuuut, ya gotta love him. No matter how mad I can get with him for, yet again getting into that garbage, he still wants to be by you. He loves ya unconditionally :)

A Humbling Song

I came across this song on youtube by accident really. I am a huge 19 Kids and Counting fan...no, I'm not gonna have more. But this family is so real and their relationship with God is so genuine. Anyways, I was bored and decided to look up on youtube the Duggar family...I don't know why, really. I came across this video of them singing at a summer camp. After listening for a moment, I realized that I knew the song somewhat. Heard it years ago, maybe a couple of times while growing up. After several tries of trying to hear some of words so that I could jot them down and google it, I found the name of the song on google then found it on youtube. Wow! is all I have to say. If you look for it on youtube, click on the video with a picture of a cross.
The words are heart piercing to the soul...at least for me. It brought tears to my eyes as I listened. Why should I be able enter in to this glorious place called Heaven after all the sin I have done. I deserve to suffer endlessly in hell. It is through His blood that I've been redeemed!! Thank you Jesus for loving a wretched sinner as I.
Colossians 1:12-14 ''Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:''
Skip down to verses 21-22 ''And you, that were sometimes alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:''
Wow!! Not only did He die for ME, once I had accepted Him as my Lord and Savior, and continue to fail Him daily...He still sees me holy and blameless. Wow...is all I have to say. I am in awe of His love for me!
I am going to write out the lyrics to this song. I had posted this song on Facebook a few days ago, but the words are continually in my heart and head, so I thought I'd write more on my blog...which I did :) and share the words as well. I hope that whoever still reads my blogs, will take the time to listen to this song and feel blessed.

~It's Through the Blood~
Verse 1:

When I think of Heaven and all the sights I'll see
The walls of jasper, gates of pearl
The clear and golden street
Why should I be present?
Why should I enter in?
After all the sinful living
And the wicked one I've been
Verse 2:

In the Presence of Jehovah
As I stand before the throne
The accuser of the bretheren
Starts to read the things I've done
As I hear the awful charges
The question fill my mind
Why should I not be put in hell
To suffer for all time?
Chorus

It's through the blood
That's all I have to plea
It's through the blood
That Jesus shed for me
Not by works of my own righteousness
For filthy rags are they
But because of that old rugged tree
Hanging on dark Calvary
That is my only plea
It's through the blood
Verse 3:

When I'm walking through a valley
And I feel there's no way out
The wind of sorrow threaten me
And they turn my world around
That's when I look to Jesus
And the price He paid for me
I can lift my hands in praise to Him
And shout the victory!
Chorus

It's through the blood
That's all I have to plea
It's through the blood
That Jesus shed for me
Not because of my own righteousness
For filthy rags are they
But because of that old rugged tree
Hanging on dark Calvary
That is my only plea
It's through the blood

Thank you Jesus!!
