Our Mission

"When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul."
Ezekiel 33:8-9
For years I have felt God prompting my heart to do more for the unborn. I have done a few protests, but for me it never felt enough. Lately, God has really been stirring my heart and I can't find rest until I do what I feel that God is calling me to do! I have, like many others, said, "I am pro-life" but yet do nothing and look away and don't get involved. I am tired of doing nothing, tired of sitting back, tired of looking away, tired of not speaking up, tired of "letting others do it", tired of not fighting for what's right!!
"These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running into mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."
Proverbs 6:16-19
Instead of waiting for someone else to do it, I want to know what I can do NOW! Yesterday, I had called a Christian Pregnancy Crisis Center and was informed of a man who faithfully stands out side of a murder mill and protests. I WANT TO DO THAT!! With God's help I want to make a difference! With God's help, I want to save that unwanted baby from its untimely death due to ignorance, selfishness, and misinformation of these mothers. I want these mothers to know the truth about the little life that is growing inside them is not tissue but a separate human life!
I also have been offered to help volunteer at the center, which I may just to get started, but I feel that God wants me at the front lines of this battle!! I need to pray and seek wisdom in this, because I have heard many stories that may cause one to refrain from getting too involved. Right now I don't want to do anything that will jeopardize my family, but I still want to make an impact. So I am praying for His perfect timing in this and yet still get involved in any way that I can.
"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."
John 15:18
"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution."
ll Timothy 3:12
I am prepared to fight this battle! I ask that you keep my family and I in prayer as we seek to do His will in our lives!!

Baby Snapping Turtle

Last week Jesse had gone outside to get the mail for me only to find this baby snapping turtle by our car in the driveway! He was soooo cute! If it were totally up to me, we'd have several rescue animals and be broke...so thankfully Jason said "no" to keeping the turtle :) Before Jason came home, I had let the kids hold on to it until they could show him. They put it in an ice cream bucket and put a rock and a little bit of water in it. I then read online what they eat...earthworms, tadpoles, bugs, and sooo much more. So Jessica and Jacob went on the side of the house and dug up worms and I then cut them into small pieces and put it in the bucket. Don't think it ever ate one. In the end, Jessica put him back outside. :)

Pumpkin Cake :)

Yesterday I had made a cake in the shape of a pumpkin :) I've made it in the past, but it had been a while, so the kids really enjoyed this fun cake :)

A Walk Down to Lake Michigan

My sister and I had visited my parents who were camping in Racine with their friends from church. We cooked hot dogs over the fire and then decided to take the kids for a walk on a trail down to Lake Michigan. We took along the Peterson's little grandson, Luke...he was a trooper!! When we had gotten to the cliff, some of the kids and I had climbed down to get closer to the lake.

Pumpkin Farm

My sister and I had taken the kids to Jerry Smith's Pumpkin Farm in Kenosha. Sadly, things were so expensive that I had given the kids a choice to choose one activity. They still had a lot of fun :)

Friends :)

A few pictures taken the day before and the day we left to move.
The first two pictures are of two of the three kids of the Schlagel's: Casey and Carter. Then of the kids with our dear neighbor, Mrs. Marten. Then the two sweet little neighbor girls that Jessica and Jacob loved to play with :)

A Little Bit of Something

I have been waiting to blog until something really exciting has happened!! Well, nothing really exciting happened, buuuut we have been keeping busy :)
Last week, I had met a friend of mine and on our way home the kids and I had stopped to see the tanks off Hwy 11. (I had pictures attached in my email to send to my blog, but I had too many pictures and wrote too long in this post, so it wouldn't send)
Saturday morning, my sister and I had gone to Jerry Smith's pumpkin farm in Kenosha. The farm keeps expanding with activities for the kids which means the prices have gone up...in other words, I can't see myself wasting money on all they had to offer. I gave the kids three activities to choose from and could pick one that they really wanted to do. All but Jesse chose the giant jumping pumpkin pillow and Jesse chose the corn maze with my sister Molly. They had fun, but would have liked to have done more stuff :(
We then headed out to visit my parents at the campsite they were camping at. We roasted hot dogs and then Molly and I took the kids on a fun nature walk and ended up coming to a cliff up to Lake Michigan. My kids, Ethan, and I had climbed down the cliff in hopes to touch the water, but only came down to another cliff towards the bottom that was impossible to get all the kids down from, so we climbed back up. (I have pictures on my camera that I need to download to my sister's computer). It was beautiful and one day I'll post pictures :)
Sunday we had picked up the rest of our belongings at Jason's sister's house and then finished organizing the garage.
Tuesday morning my sister and I had gone to the park with the kids and then later fed the ducks...meaning two, maybe four ducks! There were a ton of geese but they wouldn't come to the bread until after we walked away! We finally had found more than four ducks and we had sooo much bread that they even stopped eating and swam away while the kids were still throwing the bread :)
In the afternoon, the kids and I had gone to an apple orchard. The kids were excited because they remembered going once before...not due to the fact that they remembered we were on a home school field trip, but because there was a two story tree house there!! :)
We picked out a handful of different kinds of apples and then put them in the car and then went out back on the orchard and took a walk on the trails in their woods. We first started out collecting different kinds of leaves, we came across two different people sitting off the trail on logs, then we got lost and I was trying to figure out how to get back. There were several trails and it seemed like we were going in circles. Panic slowly started to rise within. I left my phone in the car, the dog was in the car cause I didn't think we'd be long, I tried to keep calm for the kids, but they sensed it, I kept trying to walk towards the direction I thought was the right way, but it was no use! I was trying to make light of the situation with the kids but they just wanted to find the way out, and I was like, "um, yeah, me too!". Lol! Even though we were probably in the woods for 20min, it felt like forever! We did find neat leaves and came across a concord grape vine patch, and we did eventually find our way out...next time I will use bread crumbs like Hansel and Gretel, but knowing our luck all we'd have is a trail of mice, birds, and squirrels following us!! Ha!
When we came home, I had made a, well, maybe kind of not really a caramel apple dip by just using cream cheese and brown sugar. It didn't taste anything like caramel, but it sure was good! :)
So, that has been our week so far...nothing too exciting or out of our everyday routine ;)

A Memorable Get Together: We Finally Meet!!

"A friend will strengthen you with her prayers, bless you with her love, and encourage you with her hope."
I had met Dale 16 years ago in 1995 when I came to work at Shepherds. She attended my wedding with several other residents. I always enjoyed working with her and she will always hold a special place in my heart.
In 2000, I had left to be a stay at home mom. In 2008, I had another opportunity to work with Dale yet again!
When working at Shepherds, you eventually get the chance to briefly talk with family members either in person or over the phone. When I had first met Dale, it was her dad who I had gotten to talk to every now and then. When I had come back it was her sisters and her dad, but mostly her one sister, Moreen. It would start out with Dale wanting to call home, which in most cases was calling her sister Moreen. Sometime during the conversation she would hand me the phone and say, "Here, my sister wants to talk to you". At first, I really didn't want to talk to the family members because I didn't know them and I didn't want to waste their phone call having to talk to me! Usually when Dale wanted me to talk to her family, it was because she was hoping that her family would talk me in to giving Dale "pop money" or me taking her out to eat at McDonalds...that was what she hoped for anyways ;) This would happen every Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday (on my shift anyways). I soon learned that on Tuesdays, she should call Carolyn because Dale kept calling Moreen during her favorite tv shows!! Lol!!
With each phone call, I had gotten to know the family more and more and soon I couldn't wait to hear those words, "Here, my sister wants to talk to you" :) I had gotten to know Moreen the most because she was the one Dale would first want to call. My favorite part was hearing stories of Dale's childhood, as it was when talking to any family member of a resident. I enjoyed hearing about the family and getting to know them, learning how Moreen went from Moreen to her nickname, Angie, and so much more.
As time went on a friendship was beginning. Even though I had left Shepherds, I knew I still had took away so much more and was thankful once again for Facebook to keep in touch :)
Over the last few years, she has been such an encouragement to me and I for her. I feel honored when she shares things that are on her heart and asks for me to pray. I feel blessed to be able to share things with her that is on my heart and know that she will pray.
Today I was filled with excitement and sadness all at the same time. Today for the first time, I had gotten to meet Angie and her husband "Grizzy" (Paul) for the first time and yet sad because Dale was moving home to NY, but happy because she was going home to such a loving family.
It felt like one of those friendships where ya felt as though you've known each other forever and you picked up where ya left off in conversation!! :)
I feel soo blessed to have had this memorable get together today!!
Again, I am so blessed by the many people who God had placed in my life!
Thank you, Ang for your friendship! Love ya! :)
