Christmas :)

The week of Christmas was busy as usual :) The kids still had to finish out a week of school, which felt a bit overwhelming...my brain was already on vacation mode and I really didn't want to do lessons, but we managed. Wednesday the kids and I gone shopping for Jason...spent more than I was suppose to, but it was fun ;) I went in the morning so that we could get back in time to wrap them before he got home. He is such a kid himself and was dying to know what he got! :)
Thursday evening we had the kids draw each other's names so that they could get each other a gift. Jason and I had taken the kids to the dollar store so they could pick out a gift...they seemed to be really excited to do that!
Friday evening, we went to see Christmas lights. Jason had taken us to this one awesome house where the yard and house was filled with lights. They had such a neat display! You were able to tune into a radio station through a transmitter that they had and listen to Christmas music and their lights would flash to the beat of the music. It was cool! Then we left after the home owner kinda creeped us out by coming up to our car and talking to us!
We then headed to the store so that Jason and the kids could go in and get me my presents :) That evening while they were wrapping my gift, I heard much laughter coming from my room! :)
Jason cracks me up!! He's worse than the kids when it comes to Christmas!! At 4am he sneaks out to get his stocking!! Lol!! He said he woke up and couldn't sleep, so he thought he'd get his stocking to see if I had gotten him any Reese's peanut butter cups....which I didn't because I had just gotten him some the week before, so instead I had gotten him his other favorite candy, Sour Patch Kids :) I told him, "you can't get into your stocking yet, it's 4am!". So he waited until 5:30! Lol! Jacob usually comes into our room in the middle of the night, so he was in our bed when Jason decided to quietly wake him up and asked him if he wanted to see what was inside his stocking. Jacob, being still mostly asleep, says, "I just wanna sleep!". We asked him again and he opened his eyes wide and went out to get his stocking...then one by one the others woke up and did the same :)
Of course now, Jason was still dying to open presents and suggested that we just open them now, buuuuuuut said, "it's up to mom" gee thanks! Ha! So after reading the Christmas story of our Savior's birth, we opened presents. The kids were all excited with their gifts and I quickly figured out why the kids were giggling in our room the night before as I was "trying" to pull apart layer by layer of wrapping paper and tape! :) Jason was excited about all his ice fishing stuff and is just dying to get out to ice fish!
The rest of the day was spent putting together toys and playing with them with the kids. Later that afternoon we had gone to my parents to celebrate Christmas with them. We had fun visiting with each other, opening gifts, watching the Cowboys lose, and playing games. We came home and I still had to prepare for Christmas dinner for the next day. I made stuffing and three pies and went to bed by 1am! Crazy!
Christmas morning we just relaxed as we waited for the turkey to get done. Jason's brother and niece came over to visit, which was real nice because I haven't seen my niece in a real long time.
Football, football, football...I LOVE FOOTBALL and those Packers are lookin' SWEET! We watched an awesome win against the Bears that evening, such a perfect end to a wonderful Christmas Day!!
All in all, this year's Christmas seemed to be the best so far :) I am so thankful for God, my family, and my friends!!

Keeping Busy!

Last week was a VERY busy last week!! Tuesday, I had gotten my hair chopped :) It had been loooong overdue! I hadn't gotten it cut for over a year and a half. When ya put your family's needs first, ya tend to forget about yourself and the little things such as...a haircut :) It was nice to finally get it cut, finally nice for it to look healthy again! Lol!
I wasn't for sure if Jason would like it or not. The lady had cut it shorter than what I had asked for, too short to where I can't get all of it in a pony tail...oh well. Well, later that evening after the shock wore off on Jason, he finally had told me that he really liked it....whew!! :)
Wednesday had rained, which meant that Jason didn't have to go to work, which further meant that we were able to go Christmas shopping early!!! Usually we are last minute shoppers, but this time we had wanted to get it out of the way sooner to avoid the craziness. Even more better, was that we were able to go during the day AND without the kids. In the years past, we would take the kids, look through the store with them, then Jason would take them out to the car while I picked out their presents. This time Jason's brother was willing to watch them while we went. We were done in an hour...new record!! We stayed in town and there were hardly any crowds...Amen! Later that afternoon, I had wrapped them all. I had wrapped Jesse's gift in a different box only because he has been eyeing up a certain box of Star Wars Legos and didn't want to give it away too easily...it worked and he is stumped...YAY!!
Later that evening, I figured I would get grocery shopping out of the way because the rest of the week was busy. I also had to get one more gift for Jessica, but because we couldn't find it in Burlington, I had drove all the way out to Delavan to where there is not only a Walmart, but another Aldi. I get to Walmart and am in line and soon realize that my Debit card is MISSING!!! I searched and searched my purse, I searched the car...nothing! My only conclusion was that I must had put it in my coat pocket after Jason and I had gotten the presents and then when we had gone out to the car, I pulled out my keys from the same pocket and it must have fallen out without me even noticing :/ So I quickly called Chase to cancel my card and order a new one. I then made it in time to the nearest Chase bank and withdrew what I needed and then headed home, made supper, and then made a second attempt at shopping. Brother.
Thursday morning, Jackie had called me letting me know that a young mom would be coming in that afternoon to Life Choices to take a look and that she was interested in the program that they had to offer. She had wanted me to show her around and then pray with her before she left. Before she hung up, she also reminded me that sometimes they don't follow through and don't show up. So that afternoon I needed to prepare my heart. My morning was busy and chaotic with the kids and my attitude wasn't right. When we had gotten at Life Choices, I had gotten the kids situated and then found a quiet place for me to pray so that my heart, soul, and mind was completely focuses on Him and to ask God to change my attitude. I then prayed for this lady, that she would first off come and that God would use me to minister to her even if I had only 10-15 minutes with her. Praise God she came!! She had her little boy with as well. I had showed her around, had her fill out a form, talked with her a bit, and then asked if I could pray with her. I was so thankful for that opportunity with her; I pray that she will come back and make use of the program that Life Choices offer :)
That evening, my sister, Molly, had come over to take our family pictures for our Christmas cards. Only one really turned out nice :)
Friday morning I knew the day was going to be busy, so first I had wanted to quick head over to Walmart to get that one picture printed out so I could get home, work on school with the kids, and then work on Christmas cards during lunch break. After an hour wait, we finally had gotten our picture only to see that the red-eye wasn't taken out!! Ugh...oh well, I didn't have time to wait for them to fix it, so we got it and left. I had gotten all the cards done before the mailman came at 3:30!!! Yay for me :)
Saturday it SNOWED and it was my baking day. Spritz, peanut blossoms, pecan fingers (or mexican wedding cakes), sugar cookies, and popcorn balls were on my list of things to make or bake. Jessica was so excited about the snow that Jacob and her had gone outside to play in the one inch that we had gotten :) They sledded down the little hill in our backyard but it was enough to make them happy. Jessica had worked hard all day making a snowman; Jesse had finally gone out to help her finish :) At the end of the day, I just had sugar cookies left but had decided to finish those on Sunday. That evening, Jason and I had watched the Cowboys FINALLY win a game!! He was happy :)
Sunday I had finished the sugar cookies. The kids helped sprinkle and frost them in which they had a lot of fun doing. We watched the Packers lose their first game of the season, so now they're 13-1 :( The Broncos has been my second favorite team these days...and finally after a several winning streak, they lost :( Tim Tebow has definitely improved. It's not that he is a good player that I like him, because he really isn't the best quarterback out there...it's because of his life background. First and foremost he is a Christian and will unshamefully admit it. Secondly, he is pro-life and will unshamefully admit it. When his mom was pregnant with him, doctors told her to have an abortion. Thirdly, he was home schooled :) He proudly supports abstinence before marriage. What a godly role model. The media has just been having a field day with him...of course mostly negative feedback. When no one thought he "could" do anything for the Broncos, I feel God is proving them wrong!! :)
Ok, I had gotten sidetracked!!
Last week was busy :) This week will be hard trying to do school with 4 anxious kids who are super duper excited for Christmas!!! They've got the advent calendar almost filled up and they have the regular calendar "X'ed" off....only SIX MORE DAYS!!!!! I still need to get Jason's gift this week...yikes, it's going to be a madhouse at the stores!! EEEEK!
Well, I better get a movin' or I'll never get anything accomplished :)

My First Day

Yesterday was my first day at Life Choices!! I was looking forward to it all morning and couldn't wait until 1 o'clock to come! So I didn't, and ended up leaving at 12:45 instead and was 45min early!! Lol!! The kids brought either homework to finish or toys to play with. When we had gotten there, one of the counselors was there with one of the young ladies she counsels. The young mom had her twin 6 month old baby girls with her!! They were soooo cute!! The mom was there with the counselor picking out clothes for the girls for winter while the little girls were on the floor. Jessica wanted to jump right in and help. So I had helped sit up one of the girls while she played with a toy musical ball. Joshua then wanted to help too, so he helped sit up the other little girl. Just watching how my kids interacted with those girls made me crave for not just one baby, but TWO!! I had always wanted twins :)
After a while, the counselor and I had helped the young mom outside to help set up her double stroller. Once they both had left, I thought it would be a good time to watch some training videos. Ten minutes into the video, the executive director, Jackie, came in and asked if I'd be willing to print out 100 newsletters and fold them and put them in envelopes and mail them for her. So I said, "Sure!" While the letters were being printed, the kids and I began to clean. We dusted, vacuumed, swept, and took out the trash....there are 4 different rooms and a bathroom; we had only cleaned 3 rooms. Then the kids and I all worked together to fold the newsletters and put the in envelopes and sealed them (ouch, our tongues were sore!). Once done with that, I still had a half hour left, so I thought I'd make a second attempt to watch the first video. I didn't get a chance to finish it, but hopefully next week. :)
I am so thankful to be a part of this ministry. Not only will it be a learning and growing experience for me, but it will be a great learning and teaching experience for the kids. It will teach them to be selfless and to think of others and how to have a servants heart to serve others.

Peaceful Morning

I truly enjoy my mornings!! Jason gets up at 5am and I get up as well to make his lunch; he then leaves for work by 5:30. As soon as he leaves I begin my day! First thing I do is get my phone and headphones and turn on my Pandora radio and listen to worship music while I put together the kids' school lessons. I have found this to be therapeutic as it mentally prepares my heart and mind for the day with my focus on Him.
Once school lessons are put together, I make coffee to drink while reading His Word. The peace and quiet is so refreshing! I love my kids, but to have that time alone with Him is sooo much needed!!
Yesterday, was a HUGH example of how it is extremely important for me to be in His Word daily!! The night before I had prepared the kids' school lessons so there was really no need for me to stay up once I had made Jason's lunch. Big mistake, because I was selfish of my time and lazed in bed until it was time to start school. I totally understand with giving yourself time for yourself, but my focus did not start out on Him because I did not dig into His Word. My whole day seemed to crumble around me internally. My thoughts were not on Him and I felt being attacked at every angle. Even though outwardly, you wouldn't even suspect a thing, but inwardly, I was in a battle and I felt like I was losing!!
This morning, I was not going to begin my day like I did yesterday!
I love these two verses:
"I love them that love me; and those that seek my early shall find me."
Proverbs 8:17
"But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul."
Deuteronomy 4:29
I NEED to begin my morning with Jesus so that I can function throughout the day!! :)
