Family Get Together

Last week, my sister, Katie, and her family had came for a visit from New York.  So on Thursday, we planned on getting all the sisters together!  They all came to our house!!  I thought it would be fun to make homemade pizzas, that way everyone was able to put their favorite toppings on.  The kids had fun putting on toppings of their choice.  We made 6 pizzas!!  Everyone enjoyed their pieces :)
After supper, the adults played Wits and Wagers, a very FUN game!!  There was so much laughter while playing the game along with a mix of all the kids playing everywhere!!  Hopefully our neighbor doesn't hate us over how loud we were :)
I am so thankful for my sisters and the many changes I've seen over the years.  God is good!!

"Uncle!" Finding Sanctuary...in the Bathroom!!

Maybe it's just me, but am I the only one who finds solitude in the bathroom? Call it selfishness if you must...I sometimes feel that way. Lately, I have been taking my cd player into the bathroom and listening to my new cd's as I get ready for the morning...Kari Jobe, Laura Story, Hillsong, One Sonic Society, or Leeland!! I enjoy worshipping my Jesus through songs of praise.
Just when I feel refreshed and had my solitude with Jesus in the bathroom, I am ready to conquer the day!!! The moment I step out of the bathroom, I am bombarded with a hundred questions from the kids with either nonsense stuff or with school work and I just wanna go back to my quiet little place in the bathroom!!
There are other days where I get so wrapped up with reading articles from pro-life writers, that I feel "bothered" when the kids ask me questions...I mean seriously, can't they see I am extremely busy reading trying to better equip myself on how to minister to young moms who may find themselves in a situation that was not their plan?? Pregnancy. I can't be bothered! Yes, now I am being extremely selfish!! Ever since getting more involved for the unborn, I have been having a very difficult time balancing out my time with my kids and school and reading the latest news in fighting for the unborn.
I've seen my struggle now for awhile. I'd rather read the articles and spread along good, bad, encouraging, prayerful news through facebook and twitter! But I know I can't let this be my only focus. My God comes first and then my family.
I need to be an example of Christ to my kids and by trying to avoid them isn't a good example. Jesus said, "Little children, come unto me, and forbid them not." Luke 18:16
I don't want to feel like my kids are an "inconvenience".  I need to use every moment to teach them, listen to them, instruct them, and guide them because they strive for answers and my attention; and yet set a few moments aside to catch up on the latest news but not let it take me away from my main focus...my family.
So I am asking for prayer. Pray that I will balance out my time wisely and effectively so that I can be properly used by God and not be selfish of my time. I too often want to do things my way and fail to see the opportunities that I am missing that are right there under my nose. Your prayers are very much appreciated!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Last night I had the opportunity to go shopping ALONE!!! Yes, it was divine!! :)
I had plans of getting everyone gifts for Valentine's Day. For Jason, I had gotten him an ice fishing tip up and had gotten a little plaque to glue on it with the verse Matthew 4:19 engraved on it: "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
For the kids, I had gotten them little chocolate candies in little character heart shaped boxes. This morning, I had cut out a heart for each of the kids and put Bible verses on them and some glitter glue :) Today, we are going to talk about God's love. I had wanted to give them each a different verse that talked of His love for us. Some people don't know what true love is or have never felt loved. But if we want to know what love truly is, we need to look to Christ. I love Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." WOW!! Now THAT is LOVE!!! How can one NOT feel loved?? We are wretched sinners who deserve nothing but eternal damnation, but God loves us so much, that He gave His Son, Jesus, to pay our debt by dying on the cross for us so that we can come to Him, repent, be free, and live for Him!! That is the greatest acts of love!!
May you feel His Love for you today!!
Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Dog-Sitting!!

hunter and his "girlfriends"
finally getting a break from hunter!
Friday afternoon, I get a phone call from my sister asking for a huge favor. Several years ago, my sister and her husband had four dogs, but then they were moving to Korea due to her husband being in the Army and were unable to bring the dogs. They were able to place them in good homes before they left. Now being back in the states for a few years, they've resettled and now have two new dogs. Just recently one of the owners, who took two of the dogs, just had their second baby. I know how overwhelming it could be with two dogs, a preschooler, and now a newborn. They decided that it was time to give up the dogs.
My sister and her husband and kids live in New York and were planning to come visit family back here in Wisconsin for a week. She asked if we'd be willing to dog-sit until they had gotten here. They will be here this coming Sunday.
Yesterday afternoon, my parents had dropped off the two dogs. One is a Weimaraner (Daisy) and the other is a Chocolate Lab (Punkin). Both female!! Um yeah, Hunter is in his glory!! Yikes!! Thankfully both dogs are "fixed," but that doesn't stop Sir Humps-Alot!! I had to put the shock collar on him to help his out of control testosterone behavior!!
The two girls have been wonderful!! I gave all three dogs a bath last night, and am quickly reminded how thankful I am that we don't have a dog with longer hair!! Sheesh, Punkin sheds horribly. Daisy, for some reason, grabs a mouthful of dog food and then either drops it on the floor near the floor or takes it out to the living room, BUT she leaves it and doesn't eat it! Crazy dog! Ha!
Last night they did real well and slept out in the living room with the kids, while Hunter whined most of the night in our room with us.
For the most part of the day in order to give the girls a break from Hunter, I put him in our room which then gives the girls a chance to sleep or relax!! Hunter, oh Hunter...what am I going to do with him???
It's going to be a long week! The kids keep asking if they could take the week off from school, but I said no, gotta keep moving. Hopefully it won't be too distracting. :)
