Weekend family outing that went from loads of FUN to down right disgusting!!

As we woke up Saturday moment, Jason, who loves to do things spontaneously, said, "Let's go to the park today!"
So we all got up and packed food for lunch and supper to grill, and packed outdoor games! After a quick store run, we were off to the Fox River Park in Silver Lake. We found our usual spot near the river at a little shelter that has a fireplace and picnic table. We played a little frisbee while we waited for the grill to warm up so we could make our hamburgers. Finally they were done...mmmm, they were yummy!! You see, we picked up a charcoal grill at Wally World and we had never used or had a charcoal grill. So after reading the directions and cooking our hamburgers to perfection (which takes twice as long as a gas grill), they tasted soooo much better than the gas grill!!
After lunch we played washer toss, wiffle ball, badminton, and more frisbee :) That pretty much took up our afternoon that it was time to get the grill going again for supper.
After supper, we made a fire in the fireplace so we could make s'mores. It was such a perfect day for a perfect afternoon with the family that we decided to go again the next afternoon. Maybe we should have just left it at Saturday and savored the moment...but we didn't and instead headed out the next day for another "fun" afternoon!
We went to our same little place and cooked up some more hamburgers and then went off to play croquet. We picked up the game croquet before heading to the park. So after Jason read how to set it all up and how to play, the game was on! :) Jason won, of course, but then we changed the rules a bit and allowed the kids to hit more than once...needless to say, I sooo lost and the kids won!! :) While playing croquet, a group of frisbee golfers came through, like it had been all day...so it was nothing unusual. As one group came through, I had noticed a lady walk around to our little shelter place. I didn't see her walk out from behind it for quite some time. Once she finally emerged from behind the shelter and left with her group, we walked over to our place to find that she had peed in the fireplace!! But she DID use our hand sanitizer as she was leaving...whew!! Ha!
We were quite disgusted, but we covered it up with dirt and went to go play some frisbee. While playing frisbee, another group of frisbee golfers came through and one again, a guy had gone behind our shelter. When he didn't come out right away, we just "knew". Once he and his group left, we checked it out. At first we couldn't find anything unusual except that our hand sanitizer was tipped over. A few seconds later, we found that he peed by the picnic table...but at least he too had used the hand sanitizer!! AHHHH!! We packed up our things and left to find a new spot. I had walked up the hill to another shelter that had two fireplaces, but 3 of the 4 corners were wet...soooo, we left the park and headed over to Silver Lake Park. We had gone to another shelter place that had four fireplaces, but we think you had to rent them to use them :/ By the time we did all that driving around, it was time for supper and we had lost all ambition to play anymore games. So we cooked up some marinated chicken while the kids play on the playground, had supper, roasted marshmallows over the grill, and headed home.
Yesterday, I had called the park to "express" my concerns. He was nice and apologized. I know it's not his fault, but he felt bad. He did mention that there were two port a pottys in the park but not at the end we were at. He said due to the fact that they would be opening the bathrooms up soon, they may not put out a third. He said that he would talk to his supervisor and make sure the shelters get cleaned out. He too, was pretty disgusted. I mean, ya got the whole woods (that's where our kids went), but yet they chose to pee in the shelter, even after seeing that someone was using it! Who knows how many others used the shelters for a bathroom break...gross!
Guess we'll wait until the bathrooms open up before we go again.
All in all, we did have a fun afternoon on Saturday :)

Blessings of Friendship from the Heart...

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NKJV)

The Value of a Friend

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.
For if they fall, one will lift up his companion, but woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up."

Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV)

"A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."

"Friends for a Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime"

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually.

They may seem like a godsend, and they are!  They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered.

And now it is time to move on.

Then people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.

They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons: things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.

Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

I am so thankful for the friends that God has placed in every season of my life!!
I have had many "seasonal" friends in my life and am thankful for the moments we've shared.
But I am extremely thankful for the friends who came into my life for a "reason" that have become or may become my friends for a "lifetime."
I am thankful to be able to share my heart with those who love me, and I feel honored when they share their heart with me. I feel blessed to lift my friends up in prayer in times of need. I am thankful to share moments of joy and sorrow, laughter and tears. My heart rejoices and breaks when my friend's heart rejoices and breaks.
There is a bond like no other.
When I need prayer, they're there. When I need encouragement, they're there. When they need prayer or encouragement, I feel honored that they would call on me, knowing that I'll be there for them. When I fall, they are there to help pick me up, when they fall, I am honored to help pick them up.
It does my heart good to have true friendship!

Jeepers, I'm Old

I woke up this morning feeling and looking like a little ol' grand mamma!! Zumba has put my back out of whack!
As I hobbled out of bed to get my day started, I realized that I am not 20 anymore or even look it for that matter! Ha! However, I did not give up, I NEED to exercise because I refuse to buy a size up in pants!! So, after I put school lessons together, I put on the Zumba belt, which I still can't figure out how to properly place that thing around my "love handles" without it keep sliding up. I just like to think that I am working out sooo awesome that I am shedding pounds at rapid speed and the belt keeps sliding!! Hahahaha!! Ok, soo maybe not THAT fast or even at all ;)
I am having a lot of fun with the workout, but I still look like the white girl who can't dance. Oh well, as long as the blinds are closed to keep those peeping Toms from catching a glimpse of my awesomeness dance moves!!
Maybe I need to include Yoga from the Wii Fit to help with my aging back. I have found that to help in the past...so maybe I'll give it a try.
Well, I better get going, time to take my Metamucil and rub on my Bengay and put some anti-aging cream on. Ha!

Yo no soy latino y no hablan español!!!

I am not Latin and do not speak Spanish, buuuuut I may be an awesome dancer, turn tan, and be fluent in Spanish from all the Zumba workouts in the end! Ha!
Yep, I have Zumba :) Jason had gotten it for me for the Wii and let me tell ya, I can't dance for squat, I have no rhythm, and no coordination!! Put all three together and I look like a white girl in need of HELP!! Lol!! Yes, it's quite humorous, so if you need a good laugh for the day, come join me...it's four players :)
Maybe one day, when I feel latino enough, I'll tryout the big leagues and actually try a real Zumba class ;)

Verses

I had read these verses today in my devotions and was encouraged. Many of us will stumble and fall, I have, but when we repent and set our eyes on Jesus, He will guide us down that narrow path. When we keep our eyes on Him, it is easier to stay on the path that He is leading when the enemy tries to steer us away. Then in James, we can help others by sharing our past experiences and warning them that their sin will bring destruction.

Proverbs 4:10-19 (NKJV)
10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings,
And the years of your life will be many.
11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom;
I have led you in right paths.
12 When you walk, your steps will not be hindered,
And when you run, you will not stumble.
13 Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go;
Keep her, for she is your life.
14 Do not enter the path of the wicked,
And do not walk in the way of evil.
15 Avoid it, do not travel on it;
Turn away from it and pass on.
16 For they do not sleep unless they have done evil;
And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall.
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness,
And drink the wine of violence.
18 But the path of the just is like the shining sun,
That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.
19 The way of the wicked is like darkness;
They do not know what makes them stumble.

James 5:20 (NKJV)
20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

Sleepless Night and the Power of Prayer

Last night I just couldn't sleep. I have no idea why either, but I just could not sleep and was up until 1am! So I was catching up on blogs, facebook, twitter and youtube until I finally put my phone down to go bed. It was then as I lay there that my mind was racing with nonsense things, things that was making me lose focus. I finally began to pray and I felt His presence wash over me...it was an indescribable feeling that is too hard to fully bring a visual feeling written down in to words. All I know is that He was there as I asked to be filled with His presence, to fill my mind, my thoughts, and my heart of Him and Him only, not of the things of this world. It can be easy to lose focus at times, but if you call on His Name, He will be there to help put you back on track!! I am so thankful for my relationship with and in Christ Jesus!!

Super Cute Song by JJ Heller

Boat Song ~JJ Heller

My Birthday :)

Saturday was my 30 or something birthday...ha!! The kids (with Jason's help) had made breakfast for me :)
My parents called from Florida and both serenaded me...that was too funny!!
The morning was spent doing absolutely nothing! Ok, ok, I did some dishes and laundry.
I had checked facebook around noon and was completely overwhelmed by the over abundant birthday greetings!! Crazy!! I felt truly blessed by my friends and family...even if they were reminded by facebook that it WAS my birthday ;)
After lunch, Jason and I had met my sister Molly and her two kids at the water tower hill in Burlington and took the kids sledding!! Fun, fun!! I love the hill!! So I went down a few times with the kids to get my thrill...ha!
Molly had come over after sledding so that Jason and I could go out for dinner and a movie. We had gone to Charcoal Grill and had a really nice time getting away and spending time alone. We just didn't think our meal would come so fast...so now we had an hour and a half to kill before movie started. We had already killed time at Menards before going out to eat! So, we stopped and picked up a Red Box movie for the kids, Dolphin Tale, and dropped it off.
Finally we left again to head out to the theatre. We saw the movie Safe House. Good movie, but it needed a better ending :)
So all in all, it was a fun birthday and it was nice to just get out alone with Jason :)
