Busy Week!

Since we've been back from our first trip down to Arkansas, I've been packing and getting stuff ready to sell in the rummage sale...it's been crazy busy!!
Vacation Bible School had started this week at the church we used to attend. I though it would be perfect for the younger three to go while I come back home and get things ready for my rummage sale for this week. So far they are loving it!
I am so thankful for my friend, Wendy, who was willing to come out and help me organize, price, and set up.
Monday evening, Jason had watched the kids so I could get together with my longtime friend, Rachel. It was such a nice night to just visit and share the many things that is going on in our lives.
Tuesday afternoon, the kids and I had gone to visit a neighbor we used to live by when we lived in Burlington. She made lemonade and cookies for us :) It was a nice visit as we caught up.
This morning, I was thankful for the opportunity to spend time with Stephanie and just to talk. I am so thankful with the progress of her treatment! God is good!
After I visited with Steph, the rest of the morning was wasted trying to find Garage Sale signs and Rubbermaid bins...unsuccessful in Lake Geneva. I will try again later today in Burlington.
After lunch, I had a pre-sale for the home schooling families from the home school group I am involved with. It was nice to meet new people. I especially enjoyed talking with one in particular...she was so out going and talkative and made me laugh. She and her family just moved back to the states after living in the Philippines.
Please pray that I will find a home school group and also a church so that I can connect with other families.
Also, pray that our Rummage Sale goes well!! :) I'll keep ya posted...oh I just know you'll be sitting on the edge of your seat just waiting to hear ;)

Trip #1 Down to Arkansas

We left on the fourth of July in the evening to make our first trip down to Arkansas for our moving process. All we really took down was the boat, canoe, and whatever we could fit in the boat.
Friday, Jason had gone to the college in Harrison only to come back discouraged. The major he was considering going into went from a two year degree to a four year degree due to some new required basic classes that he thought he could opt out of by taking a test. Sadly, everything has been dumbed down thanks to public education. In some ways I think it will be good for him, it will help him to re-train his study habits and just a good refresher.
We had a good visit. We stayed in the trailer that we'll be living in, so I had gone through and had done an assessment of all that I would need or didn't need.
We all had done a lot of swimming, sometimes even three times a day because it was so hot!
Jason's brother and family and his sister from Florida were there as well. It was nice visiting with his sister from Florida because we haven't seen her in a few years.
His brother, Jon, and his wife came too and on Saturday we had all gone down by the lake to watch him set off fireworks. We also had roasted marshmallows for s'mores :) It was such a fun evening not only because of the fireworks but also because his parents came down to the lake as well.
Sunday night, we played games with the kids and had a lot of fun!
Monday and Tuesday, Jason had cleaned out his dad's workshop because it really needed cleaning, but also to put our things in there for when we move down.
Tuesday evening, as we packed up to go home, I did a quick check in the basement of the house to make sure we didn't leave a mess. As I started to head for the basement door, something caught my eye that was on the floor in the kitchen. At first glance I thought, "That's a weird looking worm" only to see a tongue stick out!! It was NOT a worm but at SNAKE!! A baby king snake! Crazy! So I killed it and just to make sure it was truly dead, I had put it in the burn barrel!!
Not sure if I am ready for copperheads, king snakes, scorpions, and other critters!
We left Tuesday night and got home Wednesday morning.
This coming Friday, we leave again, but with both vehicles and two trailer loads of our things. The kids will stay down as Jason and I head back up. The two older boys will stay with his parents, his sister from Texas will be there as well. The younger two will stay at his brother's house which is two hours away from his parents.
Please keep us in prayer during our transition and our trips back and forth!

A Stumbling Block

1 Corinthians 8:8-10
8 "But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.
9 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak.
10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols?"

I've been disappointed this weekend when it comes to those who call themselves Christians. I believe that if we are to be representing Christ Jesus, not only do we truly need to represent Him because we love Him, but we also need to be careful in what we say and do. When unbelievers know you are a Christian, they seem to watch you because we represent who Christ is. When they see you partaking in worldly things, what kind of message are we getting across of who Jesus is??
This weekend, I was representing a non profit Christian ministry amongst unbelievers, but I was greatly discouraged by those, too, who represented the same ministry and the choices that were made.
I see it, too, on Facebook and it saddens me to see some of the things posted by believers.
The things we say and do, how are they coming across to others? Do we blend in with the world or do others see Christ in us? Be careful not to be a stumbling block to those around us.

Weekend Fun!!

As most of you know, we will be moving to Arkansas at the end of this month. Jason will be going to college as we live with his parents. I am excited about the move and seeing what God has in store for our family!!
Jason's parents live on Bull Shoals Lake, which means there is going to be a whole lot of swimming this summer!! Friday, we decided to get all the kids goggles with snorkels and swimming shoes. The rocks down there are a killer on your feet!! So of course the kids were dying to try out their new "gear". Today after church, I had taken them to Jason's sister's house to go swimming and they had a blast with their new goggles and snorkels!!
Saturday morning was a day of running around doing a few errands. In the afternoon, Jason and I decided to surprise the kids by taking them miniature golfing at Action Territory in Bristol!! They had only played mini golf once years ago at an indoor fun zone place in Burlington, but that was nothing compared to Action Territory :) We sadly chose to go before supper so we didn't have to worry about it being overly crowded, but because we chose to go so early, we were dying of heat exhaustion!! Yikes! It was hot, but we still had a lot of fun and I had gotten TWO hole in ONE!! :) It was so hot that I had completely forgot to take pictures :( I was bummed, only because I have no idea when we'll have an opportunity to do that again :( Oh well...
Like I had mentioned earlier, today after church, I had taken the kids swimming. Once we had gotten home, we played a few family games. :)
It's been a busy, fun weekend!! I feel so blessed...

i had to stop after this one, the sun was blinding me :)
jessica's big bass!!
Last week Saturday, we had woken up at 2am so we could be on the lake by 4am!! Yes, we're crazy!! It was so fun watching the sunrise, catching fish, almost catching northerns while reeling in bluegills, watching the kids catch the "fighter" fish, and then letting them swim before heading home!! Even though we had so much fun, we are not in any hurry to do it again THAT early! :)

In Every Circumstances, Look to Jesus!!

A few weeks ago, life seemed to be stuck in a whirlwind of emotions. My family was in need of prayer, my friend was in need of prayer, my babysitting situation was in need of prayer, and things at Life Choices was in need of prayer!! My heart felt so heavy that week, but all I knew how to do was to look to Jesus!!
Psalm 73:26
"My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
I had asked a few friends specifically for prayer, prayer as I went to go pray with a family member. The whole way there, I felt His strength and peace. I wasn't nervous or afraid. I knew He was with me and that He would give me the words to speak.
A friend had asked for prayer for herself. Things didn't go as planned, but in the end Christ was still glorified and instead of answering that prayer, He answered another for her.
Since volunteering at the pregnancy center, I have learned many things, not all things, but many. It saddens me to see the choices people make due to selfishness. But then again, I have made choices as well out of pure selfishness. As I daily strive to live for Christ, my desires have changed, I have a desire to fully serve and live for Him. When counseling, I feel discouraged at times when I feel that I am not making a difference in that person's life. I was reminded of these verses in
Matthew 13:3-9
3 "Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: "Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
As seed a planter, I am not responsible for the results. I need to remember to leave that up to the Lord and the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit. I am only responsible to be faithful to plant the seed.
Babysitting has proven to be more trying than I had originally anticipated. But again, looking to Jesus has helped me!!
So I encourage you to look to Jesus in all circumstances of your life!! He loves you and cares for you!! He will be there for you through it all!!
