First Day of Summer!

Wait! What? Summer? But it's only January! I'm confused!?!?!
This morning, I woke up to 62 degree weather! Usually I wake up to temps in the 30's, so obviously this came to me as a shock. I should have put on some shorts, but I didn't. Thankfully I had a t-shirt on under my sweatshirt, because halfway down the driveway I took off my sweatshirt. Jacob came with as well. He's been wanting to come with me again, but I told him because of it being too cold out, that he should wait until it warms up. So this morning after he had taken care of the chickens, he came back in the trailer asking to go along with me on my walk because, "it's nice outside now".
By the time we came back from our walk, it was 70!
By noon it was even warmer! So for lunch break, I took the kids for a drive around the property in the mule. We just HAD to get out to enjoy the beautiful weather!
I showed them the cave that's on the property and we then drove down the old road to the lake to "explore". Jessica found a HUGE clam shell that was still intact! I then let the kids take off their socks and shoes so they could put their feet in the cold water :) The fun ended when Jessica accidentally walked into an old broken down barbed wire fence. It was hard to see, especially when you weren't expecting it. It was in such an odd location. So we came back up to the house, I cleaned the scratches, and she headed back out to play :)
Break over! Hopefully the kids will hurry up and finish the rest of their homework so they can get out and enjoy the rest of the day!

Prayer Needed!

Last week as I headed out for my morning walk, I had gotten an email notice that Steph wrote in her journal.
As I read her journal, I stopped in my tracks, my heart sank, and I began to cry out to God to help me to understand.
The tumors are back in her brain. Not one, like last time, but 12.
Pray. Please pray. Pray for wisdom for the doctors as they do all that they humanly possibly can to help Steph. Pray that God will have Mercy on Steph and heal her! Pray for strength and peace for Steph and Josh and just their whole family! Pray that God will help her to understand His plan for her life.
With God ALL things are possible as it says in Philippians 4:13

40 Years of Legal Murder

Last week was an emotional week. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, marked the 40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade...the day where it became legal to murder our children within the womb. My day was spent praying for the many men and women who faithfully stand outside of the murder mills to preach God's Word in hopes that an abortion minded mother or father would change their mind about killing their child. They're not their to "just" save the baby. They are there to be a witness of Christ's love. If they didn't love these girls, they wouldn't be out there. There are so many people who are so concerned about saving the life of the baby, which is extremely important as well, but they need to reach the soul of the mom or dad. Tell them of Jesus' love, offer them hope, redemption, grace, mercy. They NEED Jesus! I am so thankful for the many men and women who are there for these girls through the end who choose life for their baby.
At the last abortion mill in Jackson, Mississippi, a friend of mine, along with a few others, were standing outside the mill. A guard from the mill came up to the group and pepper sprayed them! Cal, his son, another person from the group were hospitalized! Did that stop them? No! They went back the next day! Pray that this last murder mill, in the whole state of Mississippi, will be shut down and that Mississippi will be the first abortion-free state! Arkansas has one abortion mill in Little Rock, please pray that it too will be shut down!
Friday, was the March for Life at the state capitol in Washington, DC. Over 600,000 people attended!! Amazing!!
We still need to wake the Church from their slumber!! Oh Church, Arise!! We must end this Holocaust!!

So I Caved...if You Haven't Noticed

So I'm back on Facebook. I went off in November, came back on for one week during Christmas break, went off again, and now went back on. At first, it was not a problem and I had no desire to go on. But when I went back on over Christmas break, I realized how much I've kinda missed. I don't keep in touch with my family or friends on a daily basis, so I was missing the interaction.
I was talking with my sister-in-law over Christmas break and she felt because of where we live and how far away we live from everyone, that it would be good to stay in touch on facebook.
As much as I love my family here, I still needed interaction from the "outside" world.
So, if you haven't noticed, I'm back on, but trying to stay limited with the amount of time that I am on. I really need to stay focused on school with the kids and can't allow facebook to consume me, which it has in the past.
So yes, I caved...I'm a weakling :)

Psycho Psychology Teacher

The past few days, I've heard how psycho psychology teachers can be and nothing could be further from the truth!
Jason started school on Monday and one of his classes is psychology. The teacher, right off the bat, said that churches who teach against homosexuality are wrong. He went on to say that he is on his 3rd marriage. He then talked of his class and that it is a top priority class and went on to share his strict rules of tardiness, missed classes and so on. He puffed himself up about all he is and how important he is. He said that he has a major in hypnosis and if anyone has trouble speaking in front of a class, then they are to come to him and he will use hypnosis to help them overcome their fear. And on and on he went. That was Monday.
Yesterday was Jason's second time in that class. The teacher is very unstructured. He allows everyone to speak their opinion at once, even while he is talking. He tends to get easily sidetracked. Crude and disgusting jokes were being told by the students and the teacher decided to join in...this lasted the whole hour!
Jason is dropping the class. He is frustrated. That class is required, but right now he already can't handle it, more like, he can't handle the teacher and his arrogance and crude and disgusting behavior. He said he could handle the Language teacher who wants the class to find their inner self, but not the psycho psychology teacher. Hahaha!!
Please pray for Jason! He's hoping that there is another psychology teacher, if not, he is stuck with this teacher when he signs up for the class again.

Language/Grammar

You would think that after homeschooling for the past 8 years, that I would have Language and Grammar down packed, solid. Um, not the case. I hate Language and Grammar and anyone who reads my blog and is a Language guru is probably annoyed with the wording in my posts.
Last night, Jason asked for my help with one of his quizzes for Language. He had 10 questions that each had 4 multiple choice answers and he had to decide which sentence, of the four choices, were written correctly. I'm sitting there flipping through the pages of my kids' workbooks, looking for the "rules," trying to help him decide which of the four sentences would be the grammatically correct choice. Wasn't helping. What made sense to him, wasn't showing that it would be correct according to the kids' books. So, I probably was more of a headache to him than a help and it was making me crabby because I thought I was helping and he wasn't taking my suggestions because to him they all sounded wrong! Ha! They probably were. So he started putting the opposite answers that I was telling him. No clue if he failed that quiz, we'll find out.
My poor kids....

God Understands Your Temptations

This is an exert from my "Once a Day Daily Promises" devotional that I receive by email from Bible GateWay and I wanted to share it today.

"Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:13

You've taken on too many responsibilities and now you're scrambling to get it
all done. People are not cooperating. Your stress level is rising even as your
mood is deteriorating. Success looks doubtful. Ever been in this place?

To make matters worse, because of your busyness you haven't taken time out to
make sure you're approaching the situation with God's perspective. Just when
the external pressure is greatest your inner strength is waning. There's a
lesson here: people have a tendency to lower their spiritual guards in
stressful situations.

The good news is that when we find ourselves in tempting places—no matter what
the source—we have someone to whom we can turn. He understands our weaknesses
and promises to help us if we'll cling to him. God is the ultimate preventive
measure against falling into temptation.

God's Promise to Me
===================
You can pray for my help to avoid temptation.

My Prayer to God
================
Lord, I'm grateful that I can turn to you to avoid temptation. Help me trust
your leading and learn from your roadblocks.

I read this email 10 minutes after just crying out to God for help this morning on my daily walk. My thought process was not on the right track this morning and I needed "help". Finally, I cried out to Him for help, to be filled with His Spirit within my mind, heart, and soul. I am a filthy, wretched sinner who is weak. I need Him. I truly felt His presence and grace the moment I cried out for help. I am thankful for His love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, and patience.
When I stopped down at the lake, I sat down to read my emails from Bible Gateway and read the daily promises for today and it brought tears, because I just a few minutes earlier had done just that...cried out for help. I am thankful for His Word and His love for me. I am thankful that I can turn to Him and He will be there.
Hope this post brought some encouragement.

ICE!!

Ice is the big excitement for around here! We have yet to get any snow, just a few flurries.
Yesterday, I asked Jesse to refill Hunter's food bowl. We keep his main food bin out on the back porch, so when it rained the other day, the cover was brimming with water. We keep another bin out on the back porch as well, the nerf gun bin, so that, too, had water on the lid. Last night when Jesse went to get Hunter's food, he came back into the house extremely excited that there was ice on both bins covers! He dumped the ice and extra water off onto the porch and the water instantly began freezing onto the porch which now made the porch all icy. Jacob was just as excited as he, too, went outside to join Jesse in throwing ice off the porch :)
This morning, as I went for my walk, there was ice on the driveway and on the road going down to the lake. I just HAD to check if there was any hint of ice along the shore of the lake...nope. This will be our first year not going ice fishing and possibly our first year with no snow :( But at least we have some ice...ha!

Stepped Down...for now

A few weeks ago, I called the director of the pregnancy crisis center where I was volunteering at to tell her that I could no longer volunteer. With Jason now having signed up for a full semester for school, there was just no way for me to go...he'd have the car. I am saddened, but I know God is not done with me yet.
I may have found a church to attend and pray that God will use me within the church to help raise awareness of abortion. Right now they do not have a ministry in that area, but are open to anything that is according to God's Word.
Please pray for me. I desperately want to remain active for the unborn, and right now I kind of feel useless because I am doing "nothing" at the moment. I feel the "flames burning out" and I don't like it.
The 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade is approaching. Please lift up in prayer the faithful men and women who daily fight for the unborn. Pray that God will give them daily strength!

Stinky #3

Yep, we have a third smelly kid :) Jessica has been waiting for 2 years until the day she started stinking in the arm pits...weird kid! Ha! A few months ago, she came up to me and said, "I think it's time for me to get some deodorant." She then proceeded to lift her arms and have me "smell". I put it off for a little while thinking it wasn't that bad yet.
So yesterday, she comes up to me again. "Mom, I need deodorant, see." Yep, she does. She says to me, "I've been waiting for YEARS to get my own deodorant!" :)

A Busy Week!

This weeks has been busy. New Years, Jason's brother and family came for 4 days, opened presents, took Jason to the doctor, celebrated 3 birthdays, celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary, and played games.
We let the cousins exchange names for Christmas and stuck to the Dollar Tree budget. It was fun watching the kids open the gifts they gave each other. We also exchanged family gifts and got each other a family game. We had gotten Mike and Karma Dixit and they got us Dominion. Both very fun games!
Just recently we had taught Jesse, Joshua, and Jessica how to play Settlers, a fun game that we have played with Mike and Karma for several years. Mike and Karma taught Carissa and Rebecca. So this visit, it was fun watching the cousins get together and play Settlers :)
Yesterday was Jason and my 16th anniversary. We decided to go out next weekend to make sure everyone was healthy again.
Mike and Karma left yesterday.
Today, Jacob and Jessica are sick with fevers and headaches. Looks as if we'll be skipping church again until next week :/
Tomorrow I will be putting together school lessons. I am ready to get back into the routine of things. I've enjoyed our Christmas break, but now it's time to get down to business! I want to finish the school year before next fall! :)
Oh, yeah, I also went back on facebook for a week. I missed friends and family, but yet at times it became distracting. The other day, I found myself wrapped up in helping make connections with two sidewalk counselors. One counselor from Florida had gotten a call from a girl from Milwaukee who was thinking of aborting. I contacted a sidewalk counselor in Milwaukee and he contacted the counselor in Florida. I miss the that kind of "rush" feeling, knowing that I am somewhat helping the fight. I decided to only go on for the week, so now I deactivated my account once again until maybe Easter break :)

16 Years!!

Wow! I can't believe that it has been 16 years since we said, "I do"!
God is good. And I don't take that lightly. I know how good He has been to us throughout our marriage. No, not everything has been peachy keen, but whatever circumstances both Jason and I have faced, God was there and still is here. I am thankful for the man that God has blessed me with. Connie Sharin once told me, "You sure have a gem." Nothing could be further from the truth. We've had our high's and low's and we chose to work through them all with God right by our side.
May He bless us with many more years :)

Birthday Party Treasure Hunt!

Today we are celebrating 3 birthdays, Jed, Jacob, and Rebecca. Karma and I decided to have a treasure hunt for the kids. Last night I was up making clues for all around outside near the house area. Jason first suggested clues down to the lake and back, to his brother's and back, but with a few younger ones I knew it would be too long of walks and they'd tire out quickly.
Two teams, 10 clues, and a map in which they have to follow the directions in order to find their treasure. The other day, we went to Walmart and I had found Christmas candy on sale for half off. They didn't have what I was looking for, but I found lumps of "coal" that I could use as "gems". I then headed over to Aldi to see if they still had the chocolate gold coins and they did! Yay! Doris also had small little prize gifts to put in the boxes as well. Can't wait to see them go on their hunt this afternoon!

Diagnosis Unknown

Today we went to the doctor, but not for me...for Jason. My throat is still sore and I probably have strep, but who knows. Jason caught what I have, but he gets it 10x's worse.
He woke up this morning and wanted me to take him in. With school starting for him in two weeks, he wanted to get better. So I drove the hour drive to Mountain Home to the Walmart walk-in clinic. We told the doctor of our prognosis. The doctor took his temp, looked in his throat, and said, "yep, you're sick, here's a 14 day prescription." I asked him, "So is it strep or tonsilitis?" He said, "it doesn't matter, he's sick." Um, ok. So that was that. We then walked over to the pharmacy, got his meds, and went home. I do have to say, that it was the fastest in and out doctor visit I have ever been too. It was like going through the drive thru or something! Ha!
Hopefully, Jason will start feeling better soon!

Ringing in the New Year with...

As tradition has it, we as a family love playing family games as we ring in the New Year. Unfortunately, I rang in the New Year with having strep, once again. Not fun. But, it was fun playing games together as a family :)
Happy New Year!!
