I See a Muscle!!!

For the last two months, I have been "training" for a 5k. OK, exercising :) The program, Couch to 5k, started out easy and then each week it gradually would get more challenging. I am in my 8th week of the 9 week program!! The other day I could see the muscle on the back of my thighs!! It's been a few years since I've seen those babies; it's been soooo good to see them once again!! Now if I could lose the pounds in the belly :/
The other day, I ordered some new shoes on line. They are trail running shoes. I hate looking for shoes, even on line. No one ever seems to make my size due to my swollen feet. But thankfully, with the help of my mother-in-law, we found some. I am looking forward to wearing them :)
This Saturday is the 5k race that my sister-in-law and I are joining!! I am super excited!! Today I jogged 3.11!! I am not going to run until the race now. I need my knees to have a break. Last week I started running on the road....today I went back to running in the woods. My knees all last week were so swollen and sore. Today they feel much better even after running for 3 miles. Jason says running on the road is not the best for ones knees...I should have listened :)
Anyhoo, I am rambling :)
Hopefully I will be able to take some pictures to post...

An Official Teenager!!!

March 14th was Jesse's 13th Birthday!!  We now officially have a teenager in the house!! :)
Last Monday, Doris went to Bentonville to Mike and Karma's so she could watch Carissa's track meet and Rebecca's soccer game.  She took Jesse with as part of his birthday gift.  He was thrilled to go!  He had a lot of fun playing with his cousins.  Karma and Doris went birthday shopping and had gotten Jesse two pairs of shorts, pants and sandals.
They came home on Wednesday and on Thursday we celebrated his birthday.  He chose chicken pot pie for supper and dirt cake for his cake :)
The other day as the kids were jumping on the trampoline, Jacob says to Jesse, "Now that you're a teenager, you can jump us higher on the trampoline because teenagers and jump better." :)

A Deer Skull

Last Saturday, because it was so gorgeous out, I decided to take the kids down to the lake....taking the old road down.  The kids love going to that side of the lake because there are new things to explore and discover.  As we were getting ready to head back to the mule, Joshua spotted something in the water...a skeleton!  Well, a skull to a buck!  You could see the place where the antlers would be.  Gross and cool all at the same time :)

Spring is in the Air!!

Ahhhhhh....birds chirping, butterflies fluttering, flowers blooming, sun shining bringing warmth!!! Beautiful signs of spring :)

Warm Days=SNAKES!!!

Last Saturday, we had a beautiful day!! In the afternoon, the kids rode their bikes to Jason's brother's place while I decided to walk as I carried 3 cartons of eggs to give them. On their way, Jessica spotted a small snake. Seeing that she was the only one wearing tennis shoes, she stomped on the head of the snake and killed it!! She later showed me where the snake was. She said she thought it was a copperhead...and she was right!!
I'm not looking forward to the snakes being out!

Unexpected Surprise!!

Yesterday morning, I had received a voicemail from my Aunt Pat saying that she was at my front door!!  I first thought was, "Is she in Lyons knocking on my door??" Then I listened to the whole message :)  My Uncle Frank and Aunt Pat were in Arkansas only an hour away!  Apparently, they are staying in Cotter, which is about 45 minutes away.  They came down looking for property to buy.  They found out that we were close by and wanted to stop in and say "hi" :)  It was a fun surprise and a nice visit from them both!
